The SAFE Act is designed to enhance consumer protection and reduce fraud by encouraging states to establish minimum standards for the licensing and registration of state-licensed mortgage loan originators and for the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) and the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR) to establish and maintain a nationwide mortgage licensing system and registry for the residential mortgage industry.

Instructors

TMBA has entered into an agreement with an independent third party contractor, Primus Services Group LLC, to provide these courses under the sponsorship of TMBA.

Become a Mortgage Licensing Instructor

Applications are being accepted for instructors to teach our SAFE prelicensing course currently pending approval. The 20 hour course satisfying all of the requirements of the State of Texas for those designated as mortgage banking loan officers includes a study of Federal law and regulations; ethics, fraud, consumer protection and fair lending; nontraditional mortgage products and Texas law and regulations pertaining to mortgage originations. The course is structured to provide a basic understanding and framework for legally and ethically originated mortgage loans and to prepare the student to pass both the national and state components of the SAFE Act mandated written examination.

If you are interested in becoming an instructor, complete and return the Instructor Employment Application with your bio to Primus Services Group LLC.

Reporting

Reported educational and employment information will be independently verified. In addition, professional references will be contacted and reference responses will be cataloged and investigations initiated when appropriate.

Background Check

As the approved course provider the association has adopted the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry instructor qualifications as minimum standards for all instructors. Our third party contractor will require a credit check and criminal background investigation for all instructors.

A third party Consumer Reporting Agency conducts these investigations. The contractor may use the information contained in the reports for the purpose of evaluating as an instructor. You may request additional disclosures about the nature and scope of the investigation as well as a written copy of your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
